I’m spending 5 weeks in Jinja, Uganda, hoping to examine music’s universal nature, connecting power, and educational importance. Although it is difficult to anticipate the specifics of this project, I am excited to try to make an impact through teaching music in the local schools and possibly a wider impact in other schools throughout the globe. This project was prompted by aspirations to explore economic justifications for arts funding, the wide-sweeping benefits of music education, and using the global village of the internet as a tangible means of intercultural dialogue.
